Vicky's had her heifer!

And Watutsi has had a little boy. Rigel has named him Xephyr and Vicky's calf doesn't have a name yet. Any suggestions? It should start with an "X".

We had the worst wreck ever with the chickens in the pasture.... we now know where the flood waters reach after the main pond overflows.... much further east than we thought and unfortunately many chickens died overnight while the waters rose. So sad this morning... I couldn't believe it. This has been such a crazy set of years for weather...first drought, then floods. I guess we're really getting an education in animal management and unfortunately the tuition is being paid by the chickens.

We are having our first big group of farm visitors this coming Friday. We're really looking forward to their inquisitive minds. I hope they all bring rubber boots. Rigel is very excited to be the host and answer all their questions. And now we have two babies to show them, too!!

So sorry to hear about the chickens. I hate it when my own mistakes are paid for by other people (kids/husband/dogs).

For the calf, how about Xylo (short for xylophone)?
