11/8/2011 Farm Fair and Cheese dreamsThe boys played at Northlands for the last three nights and I can't find the words to say how much I enjoy watching them play and listening to their music. The sound guy helped them record it too, so now we have a Borch Brothers Live CD! (not for general release sadly). But I'm so happy to have another recording of them for my car trips and milking times.
I noticed a few things as I walked around: 1. most of the patrons there were also exhibitors or participants from outside the city, 2. most of them were used to wearing cowboy hats and looked good in them, 3. there were a lot of dirty jackets and well worn boots, 4. trade shows are the worst things ever invented (except the free massage chair try-outs when your lad is getting grumpy because the "rides" have shut down early!), 5. I like leather. Kevin and I are working out how to finish the garagemahal community Kitchen.... ie: where to find the money. The dream of making cheese there or community jam parties, or juice making etc etc. is fueling this fundraising brainstorm. I would like to set up a non profit society and run this place more cooperatively. I just need to seek the right counsel for this plan as I am not in the least business minded. I also need to have some expertise in arranging counters, vats, fridges and sterilizing dishwashers. Maybe even some barn raising help if the current milking parlour cannot be brought to inspectable standards. I have had some advise on how to procure cheap cement! Now for a floor drain, and some water availability! (and unfreezability!). So much to do! Maybe it would be worth it though...??? Meanwhile we are also dreaming of Belize and Rigel, Kevin and I are heading down there for three or four weeks in March. Wwoofing, Spanish lessons, volunteering and beach if we can find one we feel good about. Thanks so much to the wonderful farm sitters we have available to us. |
