I Love wwoofers!!

Katharina and Thomas from Austria and Emily and Braden from Montreal. They all arrived just when we needed them most and gave us a break from this chicken insanity (well I'm just a little tired of chickens is all, I'll get over it!). We now have no chickens in the milking shed, gates that work with just one hand, perfectly visible and mulched Raspberries, weeded strawberries and carrots, trellises for the clematis to grow up and protect the west side of the house, and shelves in the garden shed; all while eagerly tending to the many animals around here too.

I wanted to post this beautiful entry that Emily and Braden put into our wwoofer book:

Hark!
We, are the woofers from easternly hailing
Come to your farm while Canada-trailing
We hiked some hitches,
Slept in ditches
and ended up here....just to dirty our britches.

Yes we worked - as wwoofers do
We also had fun (may they always do to)
Improved our immunity,
Met your community,
And Thanking you now for the opportunity!

Through the thick of the weeds and the thin of the flowers,
We gardened our way through plenty of hours.
It couldn't be truer:
We bagged no fewer
Than 3000 lbs of bovine manure.

We held down the fort, while absent were thou
and built a few things - though we didn't know how.
We ate at your diner
which couldn't be finer
and played a few songs - all in key of C minor.

Though there still remain many things of "good note"
which occurred in our stay but haven't been wrote.
It ain't no use trying'
We've reached the last rhyme
In the back of this van we're all out of time!

Long live the Borch Bunch,
may your children and children's children
and goats and chickens and cows
and what have you
Range Freely!!!

Did I say I love wwoofers? I love having this memory book to read through when I lose cheques and can't get throught e paperwork around here... reminds me that I can do something right!
